Newly formed club, Austin Lakes Radio Sailing, will be hosts to the DF65 Shootout at Austin Lakes on 26 July.
Austin Lakes located less than an hours drive from Perth has been the venue for numerous state/regional events along with Australian Championships for many classes and the formation of a club at the venue is a result of the level of interest in the sport from sailors in the Peel region.
The venue has magnificent facilities with multiple shade structures, toilet facilities, manicured grassed areas and easy launching around most of the lake as well as fantastic visibility for both sailors and spectators alike. In addition, a local IGA, just a stone throw from the lake offers a range of take-away food items to meet the needs of all.
In hosting their first event, ALRS President Graeme Colmer offered the following welcome message, "Austin Lakes Radio Sailing under the auspices of RSAWA welcomes All DF65 sailors from all WA clubs to this event, the first to be held with our involvement since foundation."
The club is well prepared to host the event with the support of the Radio Sailing Association of WA (RSAWA), and will no doubt be hosts to many more events.
Ian Sherriff has taken the responsibility of RO for the event which will see sailors meeting at around 12:00 for meet & great before racing commences at 13:00. Sailors should be aware that there will be no lunch break planned during the racing with only short breaks to allow for tuning and a quick trip to the facilities.
The Notice of Race is available for the event at the RSAWA website along with online entry.
